Deck seal helps to lock out moisture and reduce water intrusion. Unwanted moisture can lead to fungal growth and wood rot, so it is crucial to reduce the chances of jeopardizing the wood’s longevity.

Deck staining and sealing work best when done together. After you stain your deck it is best to seal it to prevent chipping and cracking. Most of the time, stains also contain a protective sealant. It’s a good idea, though, to re-seal your deck every 24 months.
